I am a researcher in atmospheric science, working on understanding the responses of severe convective storms to climate change, with a particular focus on hailstorms.
In my research, I use high-resolution weather models of both real-world and idealised scenarios in order to better understand severe convective storms, their hazards, and their responses to the changing climate. I am particularly interested in understanding how hailstorms may be affected by anthropogenic global warming. I also work on the measurement and modelling of precipitation with a focus on radar meteorology.
I’m an Industry Scientia Lecturer with the Institute for Climate Risk and Response at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Sydney, Australia. I am affiliated with the UNSW Climate Change Research Centre, as well as an associate investigator in the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Climate Extremes.
I did my PhD from 2012-2016 at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland, in the Environmental Remote Sensing Laboratory. I completed postdocs at EPFL and at the University of Bern in the Department of Geography/Oeschger Centre for Climate Change Research.
